JOST INTERNATIONAL IS HIRING A WELDING SUPERVISOR FOR A 3RD SHIFT POSITION IN GRAND HAVEN, MICHIGAN JOST International belongs to the JOST World family headquartered in Neu Isenberg Germany.
Our history began on January 1, 1981, in Grand Haven, Michigan.
The Michigan location is both the North America corporate headquarters and the landing gear and king pin manufacturing plant.
JOST sells to semi-truck and trailer builders, and we currently hold over 70% market share worldwide in the heavy-duty truck Landing Gear industry.
WELDING SUPERVISOR INTRODUCTION: This position reports to Production Manager.
It is solely accountable for the fulfillment of all assigned duties and has authority delegated commensurate with assigned responsibilities.
Performs duties associated with all welding areas of production.
WELDING SUPERVISOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Include, but are not limited to: Runs and coordinates departments based on the production schedule and reports the quantities and salvage to the appropriate Excel sheets as well as the production meeting group.
Coordinates the production to be within defined HPS goal and within 43 hours/week/employee.
Enforces and the 5S LEAN housekeeping rules keeps the shop floor clean and organized per company Housekeeping goals.
Reports and monitors efficiency per employee and develops corrective action if operator or equipment is not meeting efficiency goals.
Also ensures that each employee runs the operation at a maximum efficiency level.
Demonstrates equipment operations or work procedures to new employees or assigns employees to experienced workers for training and verifies that they follow work instructions.
Verifies/assures that all work instructions are in place on a daily basis.
Initiate tickets for the Major/Minor and safety critical program and responsible for retraining of employees when infraction occurs.
Confers with Quality Department on quality issues and take appropriate corrective action as related to product already built and current production.
Confers with management, Human Resources and/or subordinates to resolve employee issues, complaints or grievances.
Completes all employee performance evaluations.
Initiates Discipline Documentation with the employee per JOST’s Policies.
Verifies employee attendance and records and coordinates with Human Resources for accurate timekeeping.
Communication with Maintenance Department on equipment downtime issues.
Directs and ensures that area Leads are properly tagging and placing all non-conforming materials in properly located and designated areas by the end of the shift.
Ensures that all safety standards and company policies are followed in their area of responsibility.
Required to effectively participate in corrective action teams in order to address the root cause in a timely manner.

WELDING SUPERVISOR REQUIREMENTS: Good, solid leadership abilities with the ability to create and maintain a good teamwork environment.
Minimum of two years of prior work experience in welding with supervision.
Microsoft Office knowledge and work experience: Outlook and Excel.
Capable of using applicable hand tools correctly and safely.
Ability to enforce company rules and policies.
Ability to gain knowledge of company products, quality, and safety policies.
Good interpersonal and excellent communication skills.
Capable of working in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
Highly dependable, motivated and self-driven with excellent attendance.
Ability to follow, understand and strictly abide by the Work Instructions.
(WI) High level of attention to detail is a must.
Able to read and write legible as defined by company standards.
Basic math skills as defined by company standards.
Ability to gain knowledge of company products and company quality procedures.
Ability to operate a fork lift, Understanding of Basic Processes.
WELDING SUPERVISOR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in a manufacturing setting.
While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to; walk, stand, see, hear, use hands, reach, stoop, bend, twist, and occasionally will be required to repetitively lift or move objects which weigh a minimum of 5# pounds to a maximum 51# pounds with or without assistance.
