*POSITION SUMMARY:*
Day Camp Counselors assist the Day Camp Director in implementing the Day Camp Program.
Day Campers are on site Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 5:30pm, but still gain the same values and experiences as Overnight Camp.
Day Camp Staff rotate duties for pre and post-care.
Day Camp Counselors are responsible for the safety, wellness and happiness of campers while delivering fun and educational program activities.
*QUALIFICATIONS: *
* 17 years of age or older
* High School Diploma or equivalent required
* Ability to plan, initiate and lead small and large group activities
* Must possess a cooperative spirit and be committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to campers, staff, and program participants.
* Must have a sincere and genuine interest in working with youth and relate well to all age levels and backgrounds.
* Prior experience with youth or family programming
* Certifications: CPR, First Aid & AED
* YMCA lifeguard certified preferred (not required)
* One year of college completed preferred

* Supervises a group of children.
* Provide a safe environment for children
* Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values.
* Dedication to job, camp participants, and the YMCA cause.
* Adheres to program standards, including safety and cleanliness standards.
* Attends staff meetings and training.
* Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
* Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
