*Job Description:*
The Art Teacher, under the supervision of the Principal, shall be responsible for developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using techniques and skills of artistic expression consistent with school guidelines, developing aesthetic understandings and appreciations, and discovering and developing students' talents in the field of art.
*Duties and Responsibilities:*
1.
Planning lessons on art and art history by students learning objectives.
2.
Preparing the classroom by gathering and setting up equipment.
3.
Developing students drawing, coloring, and painting techniques.
4.
Providing instruction on using media such as graphite and charcoal pencils, as well as oil, acrylic, and watercolor paint.
5.
Teaching students about art history.
6.
Assigning and grading projects and examinations.
7.
Recording and reporting on students’ progress.
8.
Ensuring that the classroom is clean after each lesson.
9.
Monitoring inventory and sourcing art supplies, as needed.
10.
Attending faculty and parent teacher meetings.
11.
Perform other duties as assigned.
*Minimum Qualifications: *
· Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
· Prior work experience as an Art Teacher.
· Communicate effectively, both orally and in written form.
· Ability to organize environments and instruction to facilitate learning as well as flexibility to adapt to school and student’s needs.
· Write lesson plans and develop projects for individual and group instruction.
· Ability to use diverse teaching strategies to meet students learning styles, abilities, interests, and cultural backgrounds.
· Follow school/district safety procedures.

Maintain emotional control under stress.
Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, or pushing.
May have to move small stacks of textbooks, art equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
