Warner Norcross + Judd LLP has an immediate opening for a Trusts and Estates Legal Assistant in our Muskegon office.
This position provides secretarial and administrative support to attorneys and paralegals, aiming to enhance the ability of the firm to deliver exceptional client service in a cost effective, timely and professional manner.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent proofreading and writing skills, the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
About the Opportunity Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Prepare detailed legal work product to ensure documents in proper legal form, ranging from simple to very complex while fully utilizing firm technology • Proofread all documents to ensure accuracy, consistency and professional appearance • Maintain electronic and hard copy open files according to firm standards • File documents to an electronic document management system • Prepare for and attend signing conferences • Pull deeds and other property information • Record documents with the Register of Deeds and with various courts • Check Michigan Unclaimed Property • Prepare estate planning flowcharts and family trees • Upload client documents to extranet sites • Draft Certificates of Trust • Order fiduciary checks • Perform other administrative duties such as docketing, calendar maintenance, travel, business expense reimbursements, conference room reservations, dictation, opening and filing mail, assembling binders About You • Legal secretary/legal studies degree preferred (equivalent experience considered) • Experience in Trusts and Estates practice area preferred • Excellent use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) • Minimum typing speed of 65 WPM • Excellent grammar and writing skills • Ability to handle privileged and confidential information with discretion • Strong communication skills are essential, as this role requires regular client interaction to ensure the best possible client service About Warner Warner is a full service corporate law firm with 220+ attorneys practicing in nine offices throughout Michigan: Bloomfield Hills, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Holland, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Macomb, Midland and Muskegon.
