Position Title: Pharmacy Manager, Infusion Services
Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Manager, Infusion service is responsible for leading the daily and administrative functions of outpatient infusion services, programs and personnel throughout Trinity Health Muskegon and Shelby Hospitals.
Areas of focus include hospital based (outpatient infusion) and non-hospital based (ambulatory and home infusion pharmacy services) services and programs.
The position will collaborate with Trinity affiliates to ensure integrated and coordinated care for patients in the most appropriate level of care.
Principal responsibilities include daily operations, management of staff and resources, project management, quality improvement, budgeting, maintaining compliance with all policies, procedures, accreditation requirements and regulations, medication safety, teaching, and scholarship in associated areas of responsibility.
The Pharmacy Manager facilitates communication, coordination, and collaboration among disciplines regarding identification, planning, and provision of high quality, cost-effective care.
The Pharmacy Manager is a resource within the institution and to the community regarding infusion therapy programs.
The Pharmacy Manager, Infusion Services is responsible for providing direction and leadership to clinical financial coordinators, clinical financial consultants, nurses, pharmacists, and patient care assistants who provide care to patients across Trinity Health infusion services.
The incumbent will lead the development and maintenance of safe, timely, efficient, equitable, effective, and patient-centered services.
What you will need: Education: Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD Preferred: ASHP Accredited PGY-1 Residency and PGY-2 Pharmacy Administration Residency Two years of supervisory experience in pharmacy operations; or completion of a PGY-2 Administrative residency Work Experience: 3+ years of experience with ambulatory and/or home infusion services.
2+ years of experience in a leadership and clinical management role.
2+ years of sterile compounding experience Licenses and Certifications Licensure or eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in Michigan.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Proven success in managing financial operations, personnel, quality functions, and the professional aspects of pharmacy practice.
Evidence of effective communication skills both oral and written with a high degree of professionalism and competence in dealing with all levels of internal and external customers.
Demonstrated working knowledge of the regulations and processes related to sterile compounding and 797 guidelines Knowledge of educational methods and experiential training.
Ability to work in a complex team environment and to collaborate with both external and internal professionals and other customers.
Appreciation of age specific needs of pediatric to geriatric populations with regards to drug therapy and services.
Computer skills – word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint®, drug databases.
Familiarity with various software, equipment and technology necessary to provide infusion services.
Able to demonstrate skills in prioritization, problem solving, team building, decision making, time management and strategic planning.
Knowledge of pharmacy services within an acute care environment of an integrated health system and an ever-changing environment.
Knowledge of laws, regulation and accreditation standards related to pharmacy and infusion services.
Knowledge of external medication related quality metrics.
What you will do: Responsibilities The Pharmacy Manager, Infusion Services is responsible for assuring the coordination, quality, and cost effectiveness of operations provided across hospital based and non-hospital based locations.
The Manager directs coordinators, and support personnel and works with them to achieve and maintain the goals, objectives, and standards of practice to assure optimal outcomes.
The Manager is also responsible for strategic planning, daily operations, translating Health System goals and strategies into the Department's short and long term plans, working with the clinical leadership for definition and implementation of clinical and distributive services, pharmaceutical educational programs, financial, and personnel management Directs the development and execution of the Pharmacy Infusion Services strategic plan, long-term and short-term goals and objectives.
Develops and maintains policies and procedures for pharmacy services in order to assure high quality pharmaceutical care.
Complies with rules and requirements of all federal, state, and local legal and regulatory agencies governing pharmacy practice.
Develops, implements and evaluates clinical and operational key performance indicators as well as a quality management program to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation bodies.
Serves as a spokesperson to represent, communicate, and promote pharmacy services to other providers, administrators, legislators, researchers, and others as needed.
Interacts with payers, insurance companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and other stakeholders to create visibility for pharmacy services and establish relationships that will grow and sustain the business.
Interacts frequently with other health care professionals/administrators at ambulatory care sites to develop new, innovative methods of providing pharmaceutical care to patients.
Assures quality, timely, and efficient pharmacy services that meet the needs of patients and providers.
Provides oversight of pharmacy accreditations Provides oversight of payer network applications Supports academic development of nurses, pharmacists, technicians, residents, and students.
Organizes, plans, implements, and supports research activities.
Presents research project results and other pharmacy experiences at professional meetings.
