The Muskegon Yacht Club is located on the south shore of beautiful Muskegon Lake.
This private club with a restaurant/bar seeks an experienced General Manager to oversee daily operations.
To be successful in this role, you should be a thoughtful leader and a confident decision-maker, helping our people develop and be productive, while ensuring our profits are on the rise.
You will assure that our members and their guests have unique, consistent and positive experiences.
The General Manager will be responsible for the following, as well as other duties designated and assigned by the Board of Directors: - Oversight of daily operations of the Club, including staff, budgets, inventory, facilities, and property.
- Develop a strong relationship with the Kitchen and Bar Managers, regarding menu and bar offerings, inventory, and profitability while providing a welcoming and unique experience.
- Coordinate all facets of regular weekly and annual events, as well as special events, regattas, celebrations, weddings, etc.
- Have a high degree of sensitivity for the needs and environment of our members, while maintaining a professional atmosphere that fulfills our mission to be a first class club.
- Act as our representative with external contacts in the business and nonprofit communities.
- Attend and participate in Club meetings including, but not limited to, Board of Directors, Budget, Membership, House, Yard and Dock.
- Implement and maintain Club policies, rules and by-laws.
- Responsible for hiring, training, development, and evaluation of staff.
- Maintain our digital presence and social media accounts that are not otherwise maintained by committees or other designees.
- Partner with the Board of Directors regarding strategic planning and implementation, as well as continued development of Club operations.
Qualifications are as follows: - A minimum of 4-7 years of progressive leadership/management experience, preferably in a GM role in a golf or family-centric, private member club with multi-dimensional operations, or leading hospitality operations outside of the club industry in a similar hospitality operation.
- Experience in compliance with all local, state and federal laws, ServSafe, MLCC/TIPS, and County Health Department requirements and licensing.
- True 'rising stars' from the club industry who have been verifiably well-mentored or those hospitality industry managers who come from top-quality environments and who possess outstanding relationship skills will also be considered.
- In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
- The GM, as a strong, highly visible, and respectful presence with the membership, must be an exceptional communicator, have adroit personal interactive skills, and have the maturity to know how to make members and guests instinctively feel that they are consistently treated graciously.
