*The Oasis of Norton Shores is looking for a Health and Wellness Director to join our team.
* Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Plans, coordinate and manages the Health and Wellness Department.
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of Health and Wellness Department and services provided to the residents.
1.
Supports and practices the philosophy, objectives and standards of the Health and Wellness Department.
· Participates in the development of policies and procedures that support the Health and Wellness personnel.
· Ensures that the philosophy, objectives and standards of the Health and Wellness Department are an integral part of the orientation and education of the Health and Wellness personnel.
· Incorporates Wellness philosophy, standards, and objectives into the evaluation process for staff in the Health and Wellness Services.
· Communicates changes in the Nurse Practice Act to appropriate Health and Wellness personnel.
· Provides direct resident care and services as needed.
· Completes and maintains individualized comprehensive assessments and updated care plans for all residents.

Coordinate resident care/services management efforts.
· Provides direction as to format and approach to resident care/service management.
· Ensures implementation of resident service to comply with state regulations and company policies and procedures.
· Coordinate and cooperative with all other departments in providing a favorable physical, social, and emotional environment for the residents.
· Ensures community compliance with medication management procedures and best practice standards.
· Serves on the Quality Improvement Committee and provides reviews of at least resident care management, infection control and resident safety.
3.
Ensures effective and efficient organization and staffing of the Health and Wellness Department.
· Ensures that the Health and Wellness Department is properly organized and adheres to accepted organization and management principles.
· Supervises Health and Wellness staff and effectively delegates authority to staff for the management of resident care/services.
· Develops short and long-range plans for the department that are compatible with the community.
· Interviews and hires employees as needed based on the budget and the community needs.
· Provides orientation and education programs for Health and Wellness department employees and ensures that all personnel can demonstrate the abilities required to function appropriately in their positions.
· Works in establishing and facilitating effective employer/employee relations.
· Routinely schedule and conducts meeting with staff and communicates and operationalize objective, standards, policies and procedures.
· Develops a work schedule that ensures the presence of the HWD on periodic weekends, nights, evenings or holidays.
· Maintains adequate staffing levels based on company standards and or state regulations.
· Meets with health and wellness staff on a regular basis to review and evaluate their performance.
· Meets with all levels of health and wellness staff to routinely communicate information and foster positive interpersonal relationships.
4.
Ensures that resident care interventions meet the personal, physical and cognitive needs Of each resident as well as maximize his/her self-care capacities, identity, independence, choice and opportunity for social interaction.
· Participates in the selection of residents that move into the community by evaluating the level of care needed.
· Ensures that each health and wellness department employee’s orientation /education includes meeting the personal, cognitive and physical needs of the residents.
· Ensures that the health and wellness personnel assist in evaluating each resident’s capability for participation in community activity programs, in accordance with resident’s interest and ability.

Monitors outcomes of Health and wellness Services activities by evaluating staff performance, ensuring compliance with all community and regulatory agency standards, policies and procedures, coordinating community committees and monitoring the effective and efficient use of budgeted resources (personnel, supplies, equipment, etc.
).
· Visits residents care areas, at minimum, on a daily basis and observes the care/services the residents are receiving to ensure compliance with state regulations, company standards and best practices.
· Ensures compliance with all state and local state and local standards and regulations by conducting periodic self-surveys and correcting area of non-compliance.
· Periodically visits all resident care shifts to monitor performance of health and wellness staff and ensure quality care is provided.
· Observe the performance of health services personnel in resident care areas and audits health services practices to ensure adherence with established objectives, standards, policies and procedures, · Discusses and implements plan of action to correct deficient areas identified om quality reviews.

Ensures a safe and sanitary environment for residents, employees and visitors.
· Investigates all health and wellness department incidents and accidents in accordance to company safety standards.
· Monitors and reviews resident accidents and incidents to identify possible legal issues and to identify patterns that might require intervention.
· Implements infection control policies and procedures as outlined in the company infection control plan.
Ensures that all health services staff is trained properly on the company’s infection control policy.

Maintains cohesive public and professional relationship with residents, families, physicians and the community.
· Projects a positive image of the community by displaying a high degree of professionalism, demonstrating concern and courtesy in interactions with residents, families, health care professionals, peer and community staff.
· Represents the community and Health and Wellness Department in a professional manner in all community related activities · Controls the release of resident information to protect their privacy and all is in accordance with established regulatory guidelines.
· Maintains open honest and effective communication with the community’s medical staff and medical community.
· Handles inquires from prospective resident’s according to company policy.
· Seeks to ensure the resolution of concerns regarding the Health and Wellness or the community from residents, families, or other responsible parties, medical staff, volunteers and outside agencies.
Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates active listening techniques, gains support through effective relationships, treats others with respect and dignity and seeks feedback.
· May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles or causative chemicals.
Communication: Keep current and integrates new information, communicates and models organization values ad foster high performance.
· Makes written and oral reports/recommendations to the Executive Director concerning the operations of the Health and Wellness Department.
· Interprets department policies and procedures accurately to personnel, residents, visitors, families as necessary.
· Effectively communicates with co-workers, residents, staff and visitors.
· Demonstrates active listening techniques, seeks feedback, creates ad maintains reporting mechanisms, gains support through effective relationships, and treats other with respect and dignity.
