*Dispatcher Driver Supervisor*

The Dispatcher Driver Supervisor (DDS) is critical operational role of the business, helping drivers concentrate on tasks and roadways to safely deliver their loads so Quick-Way can continue to serve our customers throughout the Midwest.
The DDS reports to the Load Planner.

_ *Essential Duties and Responsibilities* *Dispatch Loads* * Dispatch 15-20 assigned drivers following Department of Transportation regulations to complete the load on time.
Utilize drivers efficiently and safely to meet customer load volume and operational requirements set forth by management.
Send daily via “Routes” in Samsara.
Serve as main point of contact for assigned drivers.
* Resolve errors in GLCS Command Center as they occur to ensure loads can auto-actualize.
* Identify equipment constraints (ie Vapor Recovery, Leaf Spring, etc) and match to customer requirements as appropriate, leveraging technology where possible.
* Identify driver constraints (ie TWIC, Haz endorsement, Canada entry, East Coast preference, etc) and match to loads available as appropriate, leveraging technology where possible.
* Update TMW Dispatch with any changes to delivery date/time, driver, trailer, etc.
to ensure system load completion and accurate reporting.
* Update TMW with Late Reason Codes for any late loads in real time.
If customer requires use of FourKites for load tracking, update with new ETA.
* Input new orders into TMW as they are received.
Manage Master Orders and ensure they reflect accurate and current information.
* Notify OTR Drivers of trailer info for the Day.
* Confirm Date, Trailer, Time of Outside Tank Washes (working with Load Planner) and notify Outside Tank Wash.
*Driver Support* * Listen to feedback from drivers regarding the amount of rest they prefer (ie 2 regular days off, change to part-time, etc).
Monitor their schedule to ensure expectations are being met.
* Listen for cues that the driver is too sick, tired, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
If any of those could be true, Dispatch must be prepared to pull the driver off the road and find an alternate plan for the load.
* Ensure Directions are available for Consignee.
If drivers provide route corrections, update in Google Drive for Samsara and in TMW.
* Work cooperatively with Safety for Performance Management of Drivers.
This includes sharing feedback for 30- and 60-day reviews, as well as relaying trends of poor performance to actively coach employees.
* Manage Important Document Book updates for all assigned drivers.
* After-hours support is a critical piece of the service provided to Drivers and Quick-Way customers.
This is a shared after-hours responsibility among the team, including holidays and weekends on a rotating schedule with other Dispatch team members.
When On-call, the DDS must make themself available to answer the phone.
* After-hours responsibility that conflicts with scheduled Paid Time Off (PTO) must be rescheduled by employee in advance of the scheduled absence.
* After-Hours work must be accounted for either by using the time clock app or after hours time sheet.
*Driver Training* * Support New Driver Onboarding by training new drivers on Dispatch department expectations and processes.
Review Directions the first time Drivers go to a location.
* Match New Drivers with Driver Trainer for 2-3 weeks of varied shadowed work.
Based on the experience of the New Driver and feedback from the Trainer, this may be longer or shorter.
* Check in with new drivers to ensure training is continuing at an appropriate pace and is challenging and valuable to the new hire.
* Coordinate with Safety to ensure Safety Meetings are completed for all drivers each quarter.
*Education and Experience* * High School graduate or equivalent experience.
* Proven Customer Service experience.
* Dispatch experience or knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits preferred.

*OTHER REQUIREMENTS* * Must be proficient in or willing to learn TMW, Samsara and FourKites.
* Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Products – Word and Excel.
* Above average oral and written communication skills.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Ability to perform 90% sedentary work.
* Field of vision must be adequate to observe up and down or right to left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
* Ability to process written and other materials visually.
* Physical efforts required include repetitive small motor activity, grasping, verbally communicating detailed and important information to others quickly and accurately, stooping, reaching, standing, lifting light objects less than ten pounds frequently, and may require climbing into the cab of a semi-truck occasionally.
* Requires ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 dB loss at 500Hz and 2000 Hz without correction.
*WORKING CONDITIONS* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is rarely exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Fast-paced environment with significant telephone and personal disruption.
This position is prone to extremely high stress situations.
Large number of multiple steps in complex system performed with accuracy and speed is essential to the successful completion of tasks.
Must be willing to work as part of the team to step in and assist or train when needed.
