Position: Manager of Facilities and Grounds

Location: At a parish within the Diocese of Gaylord
Job Summary:
The Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of physical facilities, grounds and the administration of all related documents and records, both paper and digital.
The Manager will coordinate, as needed, with President, Business Manager, and Office Secretary to ensure the needs of each department are met as they relate to the facilities and grounds.
Oversight and direction for the purposes of planning, organizing, and directing the maintenance, repair and alteration of buildings and grounds.
Ensure that jobs are completed efficiently and within regulatory guidelines and projected deadlines.
Prepare and manage the annual operating budget ensuring optimal utilization of personnel and other resources.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain records.
Perform all duties in a safe and orderly manner.
Setup equipment
Plow roads of the grounds in winter
Maintain all equipment including regularly scheduled maintenance and minor repairs.
Maintain all water lines, pump and standpipes.
Maintain and update regularly all equipment and structure maintenance records.
Work with outside vendors for supplies and equipment.
Keep all structures maintained.
Maintain property roads which includes patching paved roads and grading gravel roads.
Assess property for safety issues such as dead trees or fallen trees.
Supervise or perform tree removal and maintenance.
Obtain bids for tree removal.
Ensure all contractors are properly insured and obtain a valid certificate of insurance naming the parish and cemetery as “additional insured.

Always maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
Meet and assist customers.
Meet with funeral directors.
Coordinate individuals and groups of volunteers.
Assist in the development of annual budget.
Repair and stabilize monuments.
Keep perimeter fencing maintained, maintain entrance gate and signage.
Keep lawn mowed, watered and free of debris.
Clean up all grounds in spring and fall including fallen debris, leaves and other items.
Manage all irrigation systems and wells providing reporting as required by the state.
Oversee and suggest capital improvement requirements.
Ensure that all technical, operational, and safety training is kept current.
Qualifications and Required Skills:
Previous facilities and grounds maintenance experience preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to keep accurate records.
Microsoft Office proficiency
Ability to self-manage to meet organizational goals.
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work compassionately with customers.
Ability to perform strenuous physical labor and able to lift up to 100 pounds.
Possess the physical capabilities involved in standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, pushing and pulling.
Possess the physical capabilities to effectively operate various equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, co-workers, parish staff and customers.
Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal.
Possess a strong ability to plan.
Possess the knowledge of state, county and local laws related to the industry, preferred.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of work and related equipment, tools and machinery operations.
Must possess a high school degree and valid driver’s license.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Schedule: This position typically is Monday through Friday but may require evenings and weekends should business conditions change.
